Taps and Rinse Jets

A pre-rinse unit is the spray tap over the wash sink — high pressure, a flexible hose and a spring-loaded arm that returns the head to position when you let go.

It exists because scraping plates by hand is slow and a standard tap has nowhere near the pressure to shift baked-on food. In any kitchen running a dishwasher, the pre-rinse is what makes the machine's cycle actually work.

Riser height and nozzle reach are the two dimensions to check. A tall riser suits a deep pot sink; a mini unit with a short riser fits under a shelf where a full-height one will not go. Add-on faucets give you a normal tap on the same body.

Measure the clearance above your sink before ordering. A pre-rinse that will not stand upright under a shelf is no use.
