Remote under-counter freezers run off a compressor located away from the cabinet — in a plant room, on a roof, or against an external wall.

Frozen duty is where remote refrigeration earns its cost most clearly. A freezer's compressor works harder than a fridge's and rejects more heat, so keeping it out of a bar or a kitchen line has a bigger effect on both room temperature and noise.

The trade is the install: pipework, a plant location and a refrigeration mechanic, none of which a self-contained cabinet needs.
