Vaccine Refrigeration

Vaccine refrigeration is specified by how tightly it holds 2°C to 8°C and by whether it can prove it did. A vaccine that has been outside that band may be ineffective, and nothing about it looks different.

Purpose-built cabinets use forced-air circulation for a uniform temperature throughout, alarm on excursion, and log continuously. A domestic bar fridge does none of these and is not acceptable for vaccine storage, whatever its thermometer says.

Small cabinets suit a GP practice or a pharmacy; larger ones suit clinics and immunisation programmes.
